Obituary of John Thomas Stewart

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Thomas Stewart was born on May 2nd, 1963 in St. Paul, MN to his loving parents, William (Bill) and Charlene Stewart and joined his siblings, Ted, Carolyn, and Mary. His love of trains was a lifelong passion which would lead to his dream job of a Railroad Engineer at BNSF where he was soon to retire. He was a huge history fan which led to being a volunteer at the large Titanic Exhibition in the late 1990s at the Union Depot in St. Paul and visiting JFK Grassy Knoll spot in Dallas, TX in recent years. He had immense love for his children, Garrett and Gabrielle, and would spend as much time as he was able with them throughout his life from the moment they were born until his recent unexpected passing. John was a deeply devoted Christian which started as a winning Bible quizzer as a child and a coach to young children in the Bible Quizzing ministry and passing out Chick Tracts to lead as many as he could to the Lord. He would read the Bible to his children almost nightly even as they became adults which is one of their favorite past times with their father. He was a social butterfly and kept in contact often with his family, friends, railroad buddies, and church family. He would sacrifice all to help the people he loved. John unexpectedly died on April 15, 2024, due to complications of health conditions. He is survived by his children, Garrett Stewart, Gabrielle Stewart, Mother of his children, Janelle Stewart, Siblings, Ted (Jenny) Stewart, Carolyn (Jack) Teeter, Jael Anderson, Nephews, Chad (Fabiana) Carlson, Alec Stewart, Ian Stewart, Great Nephews, Journey Peters, Gustavo Carlson, Great Nieces, Freedom Peters, Giovanna Carlson, Isabella Carlson, and many cousins, other family members, and many, many friends. Preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) Stewart and Charlene Stewart and Niece, Kirsten Carlson. Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 9979 80th Street South Cottage Grove, MN 55016 with luncheon and interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to John Stewart’s Memorial fund for his children at: https://gofund.me/70954dfe . If you prefer to send directly to his children, Gabrielle and Garrett Stewart, please contact Janelle Stewart at 612-396-3886 and she will give you the mailing address.
